Microscope Mystery: Life Science Center

Can you guess what I am? Hint: I am a protective barrier between your body and the world around you. Answer: You are looking at skin cells!

In this Microscopy Mystery science center activity, students will look at 10 different mystery slides and try to guess the object with the hint provided! Flip the card over to see the answer with informative background science content! This is a great STEM Family Night station!

• Stomach

• Artery

• Small intestine

• Skeletal muscle

• Plant radical

• Plant stoma

• Pumpkin stem

This lesson is an introduction on using and viewing microscopic organisms under a digital microscope. No prior knowledge is needed! Students will learn how to use a digital microscope and try to identify microscopic organisms using microscope slides and information cards.

Materials Needed:

• Laptop or Chromebook

• Digital microscopes: We recommend this one!

• Microscope Slides: This product is based on the slides included with the National Geographic Biology set. The handouts are editable.
